Today, developer and publisher Chucklefish shared new images of its magic school and life simulator Witchbrook.

Shown in a Twitter thread from Chucklefish, Witchbrook has been given a makeover since its reveal in March 2018. Previously, it looked to feature a top-down view, similar to retro action-adventure and role-playing games like The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy. Now, it will feature an isometric view similar to games like Diablo or Transistor. While the view changed, the vibrant colors and art style have only been altered slightly.

As mentioned, Witchbrook is a magic school and life simulator developed and published by Chucklefish. You will create your own witch and attend classes and complete assignments at magic school. You will also build relationships with students, partake in extracurricular activities, and master secret spells.

More specific details on Witchbrook are a bit slim, but there are a number of ways for you to stay updated. Chucklefish’s Twitter is probably a good place to start. However, there is now an official Witchbrook website where you can sign up for the “Witchbrook Oracle newspaper.” You can also join the Chucklefish Discord to get updates.

Details on release date and available platforms have yet to be confirmed. However, on the Witchbrook website, Chucklefish mentions that it is “quite a while off.” They also mention being a “zero-crunch studio” which will make development take a bit longer than expected.

“Chucklefish are proud to be a zero-crunch studio,” states Chucklefish. “This does mean that development will take longer than some people may be used to, but we truly believe that developers who are healthy and well-rested make better games!”

Personally, I am incredibly excited about Witchbrook. As a huge Harry Potter fan, a magic school simulator where I can create my own witch and learn cool spells is one of several “dream” games of mine. I can’t wait to hear more specific details, but for now, I am very stoked.
