Shadows: Awakening will be launching on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One next Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Developed by Games Farm and published by Kalypso Media, Shadows: Awakening is an isometric RPG with real-time combat. Instead of playing the usual chosen one hero, you are instead the Devourer, a demon from the Shadow Realm who consumes souls.

Throughout your adventure you will be swapping between two parallel worlds, the Shadow Realm and the mortal realm. Instead of adding characters to your party you will consume their soul and keep them within you, letting you swap between skillsets. At the outset you will pick one of three souls to serve as your main character, but the rest will be optional souls for you to consume and add to your collection. Shadows: Awakening should take up about 20 hours for a single playthrough but can be up to 60 for completionists.

Do you have the focus and wits to master the world of the Heretic Kingdoms? Gather your party, control powerful heroes and use their skills to your advantage. But who is in charge… the demon, or the souls that it has devoured? It’s up to you to either thwart a major threat and save the world, or to plunge it into complete disaster…

Shadows: Awakening will launch for $49.99 USD on consoles and $40.00 for PC. You can watch the gameplay trailer as well as check out an image gallery showing off the two planes of the Heretic Kingdoms and the many combat situations you’ll be getting into below.
