CD Projekt Red Releases an Extended Gameplay Video for Thronebraker: The Witcher Tales

CD Projekt Red, gwent: the witcher card game, GWENT: Thronebreaker, News, Originals, PC, PS4, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, Trailers, Xbox One

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales was originally just supposed to be the single-player mode of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, but has spun off into a large, story-focused title of its own. For those still unsure about what the full game entails, CD Projekt Red has released a long 37 minute gameplay video giving us a taste of the story, world exploration, and card-based combat.

For those of you who don’t know the premise, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is set before the events of the original game and follows Meve, the warrior queen of Northern Realms Lyria and Rivia, as she fights back against a Nilfgaardian invasion. The story explores some areas of The Witcher’s world not seen in the mainline games.

The video itself is narrated by Paweł Burza, a Community Manager at CD Projekt Red. In addition to giving us a taste of the story we also see Meve walking around the world and getting into fights with other people, which play out like traditional Gwent matches. According to the developers, this part of the game is fairly early on, so there is still a lot of late-game content that has not yet been seen.

You can check out the gameplay video below. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will launch for PC alongside the Gwent: The Witcher Card Game on October 23. It will then come to PS4 and Xbox One, once again alongside Gwent, on December 4.
