Atlus and Sega just released Catherine Classic for PC via Steam. The release follows multiple days of teasing, with high quality, sexy sheep photos included on Steam pages of various Sega games, such as Shenmue I + IIYakuza Oand Valkyria Chronicles 4

Catherine Classic is based on the original PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 version of Catherine released in 2011, with new enhancements. This includes unlocked framerate, 4K resolution support, and the possibility to remap the game’s controls any way you want them to be, be it on the keyboard, your favorite controller or your trusty mouse. Last but not least, the Japanese voice-overs are included as well.

A Digital Deluxe Edition is also available, which comes with samples of the game’s original soundtrack, desktop and mobile wallpapers, and social media avatars featuring the game’s main characters.

Grabbing Catherine Classic might be a good opportunity if you haven’t tried out the original game yet, as it’s one of Atlus’ most praised game on the previous generation of consoles, developed by the big names of the Persona series: Katsura Hashino as producer, Shigenori Soejima as the character designer, and Shoji Meguro handling the music.

Catherine Classic can also serve as an appetizer for Catherine: Full Body, currently developed by Studio Zero, the new studio formed by the Persona team. Catherine: Full Body is a full remake, coming for PlayStation 4 and Vita on February 14 in Japan, and in 2019 in the west. Though, I must say, Catherine: Full Body will turn out so different, and hopefully handle better some of the themes of the original game, that playing the original might be lacking now. Catherine: Full Body will include new character Rin, new story and gameplay elements, and many alluring DLCs.

In any case, it’s great to see Sega is porting some console exclusive games of the past generation to PC. I guess a certain category of modders suddenly got a lot of work to do too.
