Infinity Ward has finally started teasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s new content season on Twitter and it’s sure to get longtime fans of the series incredibly excited.

According to a tweet released by the developer, the new operator coming this season will be a new and improved version of Ghost, who has been rumored for some time now thanks to in-game clues and teases.

If that name sounds familiar to you, it should. Ghost was a fan-favorite character first introduced in 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Unfortunately, that version of the character is not canon with this game, considering Infinity Ward chose to restart the timeline.

That being said (SPOILER ALERT), at the end of the campaign for 2019’s Modern Warfare, Captain Price mentions Simon Riley, which is the real name for Ghost, at least in the original timeline.

Infinity Ward has been continuing the story of Modern Warfare through both the game’s multiplayer and Spec-Ops modes, so it’ll be interesting to learn the backstory of this timeline’s version of Ghost.

In addition, the good folks at CharlieINTEL pointed out that the video also seems to tease the return of Rust, the classic map from Modern Warfare 2 and one of my favorite maps in the entire series.

If you want to check out the reveal tweet and teaser, you can find it at the end of the article.

Modern Warfare’s new content season is set to start on February 11, 2020. As of the time of this writing, we have absolutely no idea what is coming to the game next week except for Ghost. Currently, there are unsubstantiated rumors of old Modern Warfare 1 and maps coming this season, but absolutely nothing is confirmed at this time.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
