Overwatch has been almost synonymous with gaming culture. It has grown into one of the largest eSports titles and one of the largest ongoing titles in gaming. With the success of the game, Activision Blizzard still has big plans for the franchise in the seeable future.

Last week, Blizzard boss J Allen Brack spoke in an earnings call with investors. He stated:  “Last quarter I talked about how we have very large ambitions for the Overwatch universe and how it can develop over time. Overwatch is a huge tentpole franchise for Blizzard and we’re continuing to dedicate the resources and the attention, so that we can continue to grow the community and the franchise over time.” (SeekingAlpha via PCGN)

Brack added that they will continue to add new heroes, maps, and experiences over the 2019 and 2020 financial period to continue to grow the game. He also added that they are still working on the existing game as well and focusing on some “other work” they have.

It is nice that Blizzard will continue to add new characters and maps, but his use of the term “other work” was a bit vague and be taken in many different directions. Could this be another Overwatch spin-off? Or could it possibly be an entirely new Overwatch title? We will just have to wait and see. Sadly, it will not be at this year’s Gamescom because Blizzard already confirmed that they will not be in attendance this year.

Overwatch is currently available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
