From consoles to PC, Bethesda Softworks has plenty of major titles in the pipeline like the upcoming DOOM EternalThe Elder Scrolls VIStarfield and more. However, the publisher also hasn’t shied away from focusing its efforts on other platforms, with a new studio it has brought into the fold to expand on its projects in the mobile space.

Bethesda Softworks has announced that the publisher has acquired Alpha Dog Games as part of its growing development team, with the studio being specifically brought on for mobile game development on future titles.

In a statement, Bethesda’s senior vice president of development Todd Vaughn said “we are impressed by the team at Alpha’s commitment to quality and depth of experience in mobile,” and that the studio is “excited to have them join the Bethesda family.”

For those unfamiliar with the studio, Alpha Dog Games is based in Nova Scotia, Canada, and was founded in 2012 by Shawn Woods and Jeff Cameron. Since its founding, the company has primarily worked on mobile projects such as Ninja Golf, MonstroCity Rampage, and Wraithborne.

While no specific projects or titles were announced by either Bethesda or Alpha Dog, the acquisition makes sense given the publisher’s increased attention in the past few years on mobile projects. Notably, that has included titles such as Fallout Shelter and The Elder Scrolls: Blades, and bringing on Alpha Dog will surely give Bethesda an opportunity to bring more resources in developing other mobile titles down the line.

In terms of Bethesda’s other projects, most recently the studio announced that it would be delaying its anticipated sequel DOOM Eternal from its original release date in November of this year to March 2020. Likewise, the studio also announced a new premium subscription membership for Fallout 76, a move which already has drawn some ire from longtime players of the game.
