There is still simply too much we don’t know about recently revealed World War II game Battlefield V. Sure, we know there will be broad character customization options. However, we only know what the initial reveal trailer has shown us about the game and statements from DICE employees. Now, players can take a peek at concept art showcasing potential settings for your combat.

The pictures come straight from Battlefield V‘s official Twitter account. As part of building hype, the Twitter account shared some concept art of the titular battlefields:

Titled “Concept Art Exploration,” we can’t really be sure if this content will actually be making it into the main game. Put simply, DICE may be showing off since-discarded concepts that they are choosing not to run. With that said, the line “this is World War 2 as you’ve never seen it in gaming” opens the door to speculation.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that line either. In fact, DICE’s General Manager said just as much when giving a statement about the similarities and differences compared to the series:

“…we wanted to challenge the preconception of the era with an unexpected portrayal of this familiar setting. Our vision with Battlefield V is to let players explore new and untold sides of the conflict that shaped the modern world.”

Regardless, the concept art images already give some deep variety to combat settings — provided they make it into Battlefield V. Viewable in the gallery below, we can see a desert location, a snowy locale being detonated by bombs. The last shows off a yellow-tinted grassy field with a tank slowly burning in the background.

Battlefield V has been grabbing headlines, and not for all the right reasons. There is some notable fan backlash about the deeper customization options and historical inaccuracy. Of course, Japanese developer Yoko Taro had something to say about that.

Battlefield V is set to launch on October 19, 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with Digital Deluxe purchasers able to play the game three days early. Obviously, you can pre-order the game already on Amazon. Meanwhile, check out the concept art below:
