Battle Princess Madelyn has a new trailer today announcing that the side-scrolling adventure title by developer Casual Bit Games will be arriving this Fall for various platforms. The title originally took to Kickstarter and ended up raising CA$ 212,665 instead of their CA$ 60,000 goal.

Back in 2017 Battle Princess Madelyn was planned for launch in Q1 2018. The title still hadn’t launched by that time, but we did see a new gameplay teaser and a look at the first level. Back in September, we learned of the title getting an Arcade Mode to recreate old-school gameplay.

The title finds a young knight in training and her ghostly dog Fritzy as they attempt to save the kingdom from an evil wizard. It has been created with inspiration from Ghouls N’ Ghosts as well as Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon’s Trap and features self-adjusting difficulty. Additionally, players will be able to decide on listening to a classic arcade themed soundtrack, or a modern soundtrack by Gryzor87 from Locomalito’s Maldita Castilla title.

There are ten levels with each containing up to five stages with upgradable weapons, special weapons, and collectibles in the world that will unlock rewards and hidden stages. Those who have been keeping up with the game’s development will already know that the game has been created with the help of developer Christopher Obritsch’s daughter, here’s what he had to say in a press release.

“From its initial concept days, right through the successful Kickstarter campaign which reached over $212,665 CAD, until its imminent release, Battle Princess Madelyn has developed and grown from inspiration from feedback from my daughter, who inspired the original idea, gamers and ideals from the very best of classic retro games fused with modern presentation complete with gameplay and fun. I believe all our goals have been achieved with much much more added ingredients, features and elements that will have gamers engaged in a game that has been crafted with real planning, dedication and, a lot of love.”

Battle Princess Madelyn will be launching on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, and Wii U this Fall. No exact launch date has been specified as of yet, but apparently, we’ll be hearing more on that soon. For now, give the below trailer a watch.
