For the most part, everyone is trying to do their best right now to slow down the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has spread across the world. Practices such as washing your hands, social distancing, and not leaving the house have been stressed by health officials around the globe as some simple things that you can do to help “flatten the curve.” Now, video game icons Banjo and Kazooie are chiming in on the matter making it known that you need need to lock your doors and stay inside.

Over on Twitter today, the developer behind all major Banjo-Kazooie titles, Rare, shared a brief video that related to the coronavirus. The video sees Banjo and Kazooie in Treasure Trove Cove’s word puzzle area that is featured in the original Banjo-Kazooie. Rather than spelling out the words that are typically needed to solve the puzzle, Kazooie used her Beak Buster attack to spell out a completely different phrase. The famed bird and bear slowly ground pounded on the letters in the order of S-T-A-Y-H-O-M-E telling you very clearly, that you need to stay home.

That’s right, folks, Banjo and Kazooie are demanding that you sit down on your couch, watch a movie, play some video games, or heck, just read a book. Now’s not the time to be out partying with friends or hitting up your local bar (even though it’s probably closed anyway). No, instead you need to stay home. Please listen to this bird and bear. I can promise you, they are very wise.

For real though, this was a pretty funny way for Rare to bring some levity and laughter in relation to everything that’s been going on in the world lately. Not only was this funny, though, but it’s also very accurate! If we want to get back to some sense of normalcy in the world, it’s important that we all do our own part and only leave the house for tasks like getting groceries or going to work — if you cannot work from home, that is.

And also, if you’re self-quarantining yourself over the next few weeks, maybe you should pick up Banjo-Kazooie and play through it again for yourself. Surprisingly, the game holds up pretty darn well and is still one of my personal favorite 3D platformers all these years later. It’s likely most accessible at the moment on Xbox One as part of Rare Replay’s larger package.

Thank you for the PSA in a time like this, Banjo and Kazooie. You both truly are icons.
