Today, Koei Tecmo hosted a livestream from Japan, showcasing the very first gameplay of Attack on Titan 2.
The stream was presented by Koei Tecmo President and Chief Operating Officer Hisashi Koinuma, and Omega Force Manager Hideo Suzuki, alongside Krista’s voice actress Shiori Mikami. Incidentally, she will be playable in the game (the character, not the voice actress).
First of all, we get to see a certain relevant cutscene involving Krista. It’s a spoiler if you have not seen the anime or read the manga, so I’ll put that part at the end of the article. Just don’t watch the last clip if you don’t want to see it.
After that, get to see part of the game’s introduction, and one of the main new elements of the new game, the character creation. We can customize a lot of different elements vis sliders, and also change the character’s gender and outfit’s elements and colors.
The next gameplay section is the tutorial, that allows us to enjoy the overhauled gameplay with the three-dimensional maneuver gear. The scene then moves to an extensive city scene between missions, where the player can enjoy interacting with the other members of the cast.
After that, in the second clip, you can finally see some titan-slaying action from the first mission. Interestingly, the developers also showcased the new telescope, and how titans can get considerably more aggressive.
Interestingly, we learn that more gameplay will come in November, another dedicated livestream will come in December, and a collector’s edition is planned.
You can check out all the footage below, and if you want to learn more, you can also enjoy our recent interview with Koinuma-san and Suzuki-san.
Attack on Titan 2 will launch in the west in March 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch, skipping the PS Vita release that will come only in Japan. At the end of today’s video, it was also confirmed that the game will release in March in Japan as well.
