At TGS 2020, Koei Tecmo revealed new details on Atelier Ryza 2, coming to PC, PS4, and Switch. The stream featuring Producer Junzo Hosoi, Ryza seiyuu Yuri Noguchi, and chara designer Toridamono.

The stream started with a recap of everything we know so far on Atelier Ryza 2, how it features Ryza’s friends coming back alongside new characters, new actions like swimming etc.

The first new announcement was a brand new trailer, which in particular revealed Empel Vollmer and Lila Decyrus are coming back too. While they appear in the game, it’s unlikely they’ll become party members as we only see them in a specific scene, and they don’t have preoder bonus costumes.

The second announcement was the reveal of the Atelier Ryza 2 theme song, titled Somewhen, Somewhere… by Clammbon, with music and lyrics by Mito. A video message from Mito was shown too. You can hear the song in the trailer.

Next, we saw some live gameplay, starting with some alchemy gameplay in the new atelier and mansion rented by Ryza. We also saw some field exploration, with Ryza riding a monster. We can see her swimming and entering an underwater dungeon too. The game is still using the same world map system with each location represented by an icon.

Some battle gameplay was shown as well. Junzo Hosoi explained it’s the same battle system as in the first game but revamped and with a bigger feeling of action. Now, you can now swap active and back row party members during battle. There’s also a new Item Rush system.

Following the gameplay part, Atelier Ryza official cosplayer Moe Iori joined the stream, cosplaying the new 20 years old version of Reisalin Stout.

We’ll keep updating this article with more details as the stream is ongoing.

Producer Junzo Hosoi recently explained Ryza was always supposed to be the protagonist for two games. Be sure to check our extensive coverage and translations so far.
