Gust revealed in this week’s Famitsu the new design of Rorolina “Rorona” Frixell in Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland. Other characters were revealed as well.

Rorona is an extremely talented alchemist and the mother of Lulua. Because of her job, she tends to travel a lot, ending up leaving Lulua alone most of the time. Even now, Rorona is still really into baking pies. We also learned that Lulua loves curry since her childhood, and it will be possible to make some using alchemy and use it in battle.

Then, we’ve got a returning character, Chimdragon, a male Chim type homunculus which grew to human size after drinking a secret medicine. He always executes the tasks he receives flawlessly. He calls Piana “Master” and Lulua herself “Nano Master”. He was in Atelier Meruru and was one of the Chim Rangers who used to fight with Totori. She’s the one who named him “Chimdragon”.

Next, we get to see part of the world map. Lulua travels the world by riding Piana’s “Carriage Atelier”, which as the name says, is a carriage with an alchemy atelier inside. Chimdragon is the carriage’s rider and also handles the atelier’s cleaning and chores.

Next, we’ve got a brand new character, a magician called Ficks Finis. He takes his magician act very seriously, and always try to be as mysterious as possible, to the annoyment of his comrades. However, he is indeed a skilled magician, and no one can see past his tricks. He also uses tricks and trump cards to fight in battle. He sees Lulua as a very interesting girl, is intrigued about how far she will grow as an alchemist, and keeps acting overly friendly with her. He tends to act coldly toward other people though, especially adults.

Next, we’ve got another brand new character, an ex-pirate named Nicodemus David Dierter. Everyone calls him Nico. He will also join Lulua’s party and fights by wielding anchors. During his pirate days, he was nicknamed “Nico the Conqueror of the Raging Seas”. A certain someone ended up wrecking his favorite boat, so he decided to become an adventurer. He works hard every day in order to get enough money to repair the boat.

Last but not least, the magazine also revealed the new design of Lionela Heinze, the traveling street performer who used to be one of Rorona’s party members in Atelier Rorona. After her adventures with Rorona, Lionela overcame her shyness and decided to open up her own bar, “The Arahoro Harbor”. She wished to make a place where anyone can feel at ease and relax. She still has her two cat puppets and keeps them in the bar. She has grown into a very beautiful lady.

The game’s story will progress as you decipher the recipes in the mysterious alchemy book Lulua found at the start of her adventure. You’re basically asked questions and you need to select the correct answer using keywords. New keywords can be found by gathering new materials. Once you clear the whole page, you’ll also get the recipe.
