Who doesn’t love a good point-and-click game? Going all the way back to the first point-and-click game called Enchanted Scepters by Silicon Beach Software in 1984, these types of adventure titles have remained a staple within the video game world. One of the latest point and interact titles to come onto the market is a game called At Dead of Night by developers, Baggy Cat. For those of you who haven’t a clue what this game entails or who the characters are, let me explain it below.
What is At Dead of Night about?
At Dead of Night is a horror game but also a movie. Recently, we have seen other titles that have gone down the interactive film video game route like Erica and The Complex. In this game, the player takes on the role of Maya who finds herself lost with her friends but manages to come upon a hotel that looks like it’s straight from The Shining so you know nothing good is going to happen here.
Funny enough, the hotel owner is a psychopath called Jimmy Hall and in true horror movie fashion, Maya is then stalked by the deranged lunatic where she has to rely on her wits to survive, save her friends as well as solve the mystery and escape with her life with the aid of an ancient ghost voice receiver that echoes the victims of Jimmy’s gruesome past. Sounds like a very joyful and relaxing game, doesn’t it?
Who is Jimmy Hall?
Jimmy Hall is the main antagonist of At Dead Of Night. As mentioned before, Jimmy is the psychotic owner of the Sea View Hotel who kidnaps and murders his guests. It’s probably best not to get on the wrong side of Jimmy, for obvious reasons, but when he becomes angry he turns into a comedic alter ego called Hugo Punch who then chases Maya around the hotel with a baseball bat. Despite his dark side, at times throughout the game, Jimmy can appear to feel bad for what he has done and is even seen as becoming depressed by his acts.
