Today, on November 26, Ubisoft announced the Japan version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Review). will be patched to add back various depictions of blood in the game, currently nearly nonexistent and censored. However, no precise date was shared yet. Ubisoft only stated the patch will be rolling out sometime in mid-December.

On the Japanese Ubiblog, Ubisoft wrote “The Japanese version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla currently has a problem where depictions of blood cannot be enabled in the game’s options. We are currently preparing a patch to solve this issue, releasing in mid-December. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers.”

Soon after the worldwide release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players in Japan but also in Korean and Taiwan noted the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game had the blood heavily censored. Many players complained about the issue and how the options has an on/off setting for blood which didn’t change anything. On November 18, Ubisoft stated this was a necessary change to release the game in Japan in accordance to age rating regulations. However, this claim was denied by CERO on November 19. Ubisoft later on apologized and recognized the issue stemmed from an internal problem.
