Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s launch was met with some pretty solid reviews and since then, Ubisoft has been implementing lots of bits and bobs to the game that include allowing players to buy XP boost’s and an update that helps with screen tearing on the Xbox Series X. One of the main issues noticed by players is the number of bugs popping up throughout the game, especially so on the Xbox Series X, and this time, another bug has cropped up that makes Eivor totally pissed when loading up the game has recently surfaced.

The ‘drunk bug’ seems to be tied in with the Yule Festival, although this hasn’t been confirmed as yet. During the recent Yule celebrations, players can take part in a host of events, one of them being a drinking contest with a man named Braun which obviously makes you as pissed as a fart. Thankfully, Eivor sobers up within a few moments but if you happen to partake in this challenge, go about your business and then save your game, Eivor will then spawn in drunk whenever you jump back into the action again.

As someone who plays Assassin’s Creed Valhalla quite regularly and has also taken part in the Yule Festival, I can confirm that Eivor does indeed load back into the game wasted, which wasn’t great for me since I saved right at the point of a raid which meant that I couldn’t see a thing and was staggering all over the place whilst getting arrows shot at me and, of course, the lock-on feature is disabled due to being drunk; not that I could see anything to lock onto anyway.

Players have also noticed some other bugs connected to the Yule Festival after participating in the events. Apparently, some have recalled glitches that make the player quiver and hold less ammo, but so far, there’s been nothing to remedy this. This isn’t gaming breaking material but, nonetheless, it’s extremely frustrating. Players can help to elevate some of the drunk side-effects by either fast traveling, meditating, or just hanging around and waiting for it to subside, not great if you’re in a battle though. Hopefully, soon, Ubisoft can sort this annoying bug out and we can all get back to our sobriety.

If you have a spare $749 laying around and fancy grabbing yourself an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ¼ scale Eivor statue, check out this article that tells you how to go about it. When Valhalla finally released, the game saw twice as many players as what Odyssey received at launch. Ubisoft stated that it saw “exceptional player activity” and expects the “trend to continue” as sales increase for next-gen systems. The game is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC as well.
