Before his unfortunate death in 2015, Satoru Iwata was the President and CEO of Nintendo. One of the many things he was known for during his time with the company was his popular “Iwata Asks” interviews. These interviews saw Iwata talking to several of Nintendo’s best and brightest about all kinds of topics. Back in 2019, Hobonichi collected some of those interviews and published them in the book Ask Iwata: Words of Wisdom from Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s Legendary CEO. That book was previously only available in Japan; however, today we learned that the book has been translated to English and is coming on April 13.

For English-speaking Nintendo fans, that’s incredible news. Ask Iwata collects several of the most important interviews in the series in one, easily digestible place. The book features conversations with people like Shigeru Miyamoto (Mario, The Legend of Zelda) and Shigesato Itoi (EarthBound). It offers fans a look behind the curtain to see some of the thoughts and ideas that shaped the fabled company.

The 176-page book is being published by Viz Media after publishing in Japan was handled by Itoi’s company Hobonichi. As mentioned above, it launches on April 13 in the US. UK fans will have to wait two extra days to get their hands on it. Regardless, this seems like a must-have collection for fans.

If you just can’t wait, the original interviews are still available on Nintendo’s website. If nothing else, they should more than keep you busy while you wait to pick up your copy of Ask Iwata.
