Apex Legends Datamine Points to Potential New Characters, Survival Mode, and More On the Way

After a surprise launch at the beginning of the month, the newly-released battle royale title Apex Legends from Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment has had a remarkable level of success in its first few weeks, with the game having already surpassed 10 million players since launch. As recent datamines from modders seem to have pointed out, it appears that plenty more is on the way for the free-to-play battle royale shooter in terms of new features and content.

In reports from “RealApexLegends” on Twitter, dataminers have uncovered several files in Apex Legends that may point to upcoming content for the game on the horizon.

Specifically, the files in question seem to include references to potential new Legends that players will able to use in-game, and references to what seems to be a new Survival mode. While details at the moment are vague, one would assume that the Survival mode might provide players with some other challenges that they need to complete in order to outlast either other players or some other form of adversaries.

While none of this has been confirmed just yet by either Respawn Entertainment or EA, it’s safe to assume that given the rousing success that Apex Legends has enjoyed so far in its first few weeks of release, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see that there is (probably) far more in store for the battle royale game to keep players coming back, and to bring in potential new players.

Apex Legends is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For more on the game, you can read our full review and our recent editorial going into what Apex Legends needs to do to stand out from the rest of the battle royale pack.
