The newly announced Chaos Theory Collection event for Apex Legends is making some pretty big Legend changes among other things. From Pathfinder’s Low Profile to Gibraltar’s Dome of Protection, here’s what you need to know about the changes coming to your main.

Caustic

  • Nox Gas Grenade cooldown increased from 2.5 minutes to 3.5 minutes.
  • Nox Gas damages at a flat rate of 5hp per tick instead of ramping up from 6hp → 12hp.

It’s hard to say how much this update will cause the meta surrounding Caustic to change. On one hand, the increased cooldown on his ult and decreased damage rate on all of his nox gas abilities definitely put him at a disadvantage when comparing him to how he was before. However, the new Caustic Town on the map will make him a valuable team asset because he won’t take nox damage when inside. Devs have said that if the changes make him an unattractive character, they will look into rebalancing him again.

Pathfinder

  • Removed Low Profile

This is one of the other big changes coming to the Legends meta. With the Apex low profile perk, Legends that are smaller and more mobile take increased damage of up to 5%. Up until this point, Pathfinder had the low profile perk because of his mobility. This has been removed from Path because, despite his wiry frame, his hitbox is still much larger than the other Legends with the low profile perk.

Gibraltar

  • Removed 15% faster heal item usage while in Dome of Protection.

This is a tough hit for Gibraltar mains. Much of his appeal stems from his Dome of Protection. While it does stop all incoming attacks, the healing perk was essential to his build. It seems like this has been done to help balance the newly added heat shield item that has a similar healing perk.

Rampart

  • Explosives damage Amped Cover normally, instead of inflicting 200 damage.
  • Explosives damage Sheila normally, instead of inflicting 175 damage.

This change is a big deal because it seems like Rampart might become more competitively viable. Initially, Devs said that they were cautious about how “oppressive” her walls would be, so they made them easily destructible with grenades. After seeing how flimsy that made them, they’ve decided to give the walls a sizable explosive buff.

The following three Legends have relatively small changes that are pretty straightforward and need no real explanation/analysis.

Horizon

  • Increased Black Hole cooldown from 2 minutes to 3 minutes

Revenant

  • Revenant’s Silence now disables Mirage’s cloaked revive & respawn as well as Octane’s Swift Mend.

Wattson

  • Wattson now has passive shield regen at 0.5 hp/s (half of Octane’s current health regen rate).

These changes are being implemented on March 9 and you can find the full list of patch notes right here.
