Anthem’s Upcoming Content Schedule Has Been Delayed by BioWare

As soon as Anthem released back in February, BioWare immediately outlined the future content that would be coming to the game over the next 90 days. After a litany of issues have continued to spring up though with the loot shooter, BioWare has now announced that the future content schedule for Anthem has been delayed.

BioWare addressed the Anthem community yesterday on the game’s official subreddit and shared the news. “We have been prioritizing things like bug fixes, stability and game flow over the new features of Act 1,” said the post in question. “We want to make sure everything we add to the game has a purpose and fits with our long term goals.” Because of these reasons, upcoming additions to Anthem like guilds, leaderboards, and new freeplay events have been pushed back to an undetermined date.

Cataclysm, the first major story update for Anthem, has also been delayed along with the rest of the upcoming content. BioWare says it views Cataclysm as a very vital update and it was planned to be the first major new addition to the game following launch. This add-on has also be delayed indefinitely but BioWare has said it will have more to share come May.

On one hand, it’s good to see that BioWare is prioritizing the fixing of Anthem’s core issues before it ever bothers to add any other content to the game. On the other, it’s a shame that the game has been this plagued with problems in the first place that ever led to this being a result.

Hopefully, Anthem can finally get to a place in the coming months where these issues that have continued to spring up can be a thing of the past. The game has a fair amount of potential, but there’s still a lot of work to be done to improve many of the integral problems that it has.

Anthem is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
