Animal Crossing: New Horizons is due to launch tomorrow, and despite the game not being live yet, it still got a patch that rolled out today. The patch includes the information that the game will require an online connection to experience events that are activated in real-life time, but there are also some additional features that come with the v1.1 patch.

With the update being applied to the game, players will be getting an exclusive Nintendo Switch furniture item. Upon jumping into the game, players can find the furniture delivered for free to their postbox after building their tent. The furniture will also be available to all residents of the island, but it “may be terminated without notice” so players are advised to grab it while they can.

In addition, the Nintendo Switch furniture item will depend on what edition you have. So, those playing with the limited edition Animal Crossing: New Horizons themed Joy-Cons set will grant the player with a special edition Nintendo Switch to display in their home.

It’s also detailed that both the Nintendo Switch and the Animal Crossing-themed Switch will be available to order through the in-game store. So if you miss out on grabbing the free version, you can just buy it.

There’s a bonus for those who are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online — Nintendo’s online service that allows players to travel to other islands. You’ll be able to exchange a “Nook Manufactured Square Rug” for Nook Miles. This item seems to look like a welcome mat, either way, you get to redeem it through the Nook Mile Exchange if you don’t want it.

It’s detailed that players will only be able to use the exchange system after progressing through the game to some extent, and that players are able to exchange and obtain any number of items on the island where they have downloaded the bonus data.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is due to launch tomorrow on the Nintendo Switch both physically and digitally. However, some users have received the physical copy early and are able to play it in an offline state.
