Everyone’s favorite mental health saver of 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, is set to be receiving a new update in the near future.
Nintendo of America shared on Twitter that the Switch title will receive an update sometime in March. No specific release date or details were given at this time. However, the developer did promise gamers can find updates in the near future by staying tuned to the official Animal Crossing Twitter page along with their own.

Although I personally would like to see an update that allows me to get back at Tom Nook for all the money he’s robbed from me, that is probably a bit of wishful thinking. It is worth noting that Mario Day (otherwise known as “Mar10 Day”) happens to be in the same month as the new update, so perhaps gamers can expect to find some some Super Mario themed merchandise on their personal islands.
This isn’t the first piece of Animal Crossing news to be revealed in the month of February. Nintendo’s latest sales figures showed that New Horizons has sold 31.18 million copies, roughly five million more than Nintendo’s sales figures in November 2020. Despite the high number of sales, the game still sits behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the best selling Switch title.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently near the pace to overtake Grand Theft Auto V’s sales record through 11 months, needing only two million more copies sold over the next two months. Although it won’t be easy to do, it is technically possible. In other Animal Crossing news, the game received some new items centered around “customs and events of the world.” Players were able to purchase an ogre costume yesterday and can expect a Bean-Tossing Kit to go on sale today.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
